The Men’s Health Clinic is an internationally recognised, CQC registered private medical clinic that specialises in delivering patient-centred care.
Although the primary focus since opening our clinic in 2016 has been in addressing and treating male hormone deficiency, we are pleased to now be applying the wealth of knowledge and expertise that we have gained over the years to the world of female Hormone Replacement Therapy.
As a member of both the British and International Societies for Sexual Medicine, and The British Menopause Society, we take the best available guidelines and make them more effective, with more thorough monitoring and more progressive treatment options. Safety and effectiveness are always our primary goals.
All treatment begins with a comprehensive diagnostic work-up that not only looks at your hormones, but also your other more general health parameters. It is important to appreciate that in order to improve physical and psychological well-being, it is necessary to address the whole person, not just the medical condition.
Our mission is to deliver gold standard care in both diagnostics, using state of the art equipment, and revolutionary treatments that go above and beyond your typical medical therapies. Our highly experienced and progressive team provide realistic expectations and support you at every step of your journey with us.
In addition to male and female Hormone Replacement Therapy, we also offer a range of medical and therapeutic services that support our progressive and holistic ethos.
Further information regarding the Female HRT programme offered by our clinic can be found in this article.

If you wish to be considered for Hormone Replacement Therapy at our clinic, your first step is to organise a comprehensive blood test that includes a full hormone panel, as well as your more general health parameters.
If you are based in the UK, we can help you with organising the necessary blood testing through our clinic, which will be followed by a courtesy telephone call with Dr Stevens at no additional charge. During this call he will review your initial comprehensive blood results with you, and give you his professional recommendations for moving forwards.
If you have already had recent blood tests carried out but have not yet started any type of Hormone Replacement Therapy, please forward those to us by email. They will be reviewed by Dr Stevens, who will personally contact you by email with recommended next steps.
If you are already on Hormone Replacement Therapy and wish to transfer your care to our clinic, please forward your most recent blood results by email for Dr Stevens to review and advise you further.
If you wish to discuss your personal situation further prior to committing to treatment with us, you are welcome to book a 15-minute Telephone Consultation with Dr Stevens, there is a fee for this service.
Please note, HRT is contraindicated in women with a current, past, or suspected history of breast or other oestrogen receptive cancer, i.e. ovarian. Please advise us prior to the initial assessment process if this applies to you.
Your first appointment will always involve an in-person consultation with Dr Stevens at our Dorset clinic.
At this consultation, Dr Stevens will take a detailed medical and social history from you, thoroughly assess your blood results, perform a basic physical examination and have an in-depth discussion with you regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy and your expectations, before commencing treatment with you.
Where appropriate, Dr Stevens will go through safe preparation of your injectable medications, and gently guide you through safe and correct injection technique so that you leave the consultation room with confidence, ready to embark on the next stage in your journey.
At the end of your consultation, you will have complimentary use of our InBody 770 medical-grade body composition scanner. This allows us to record and track data relating to your physical health, as well as providing you with a benchmark to work from. Repeat scanning will also form part of any annual face-to-face follow up consultations carried out in clinic, there is no additional fee for this service.
We are always happy to support you in approaching your GP to have your blood investigations and medications supplied under the NHS where possible. A letter can be issued at the end of your consultation, or at a later date, if required.
Please allow up to 90-minutes for this appointment.
All new patients (including international) must attend clinic for their New Patient Consultation and for their first annual review, usually 12-15 months later. This is non-negotiable as it promotes safe and effective UK practice.
After your first annual review in clinic, if you are a UK resident and stable on treatment, you can be approved for remote consultations and will no longer be required to attend clinic annually. Your treatment can then be managed remotely if preferred.
All international patients will still be required to attend clinic every 12 months to collect their medications.
Seven weeks after starting treatment with us, you will have a blood test to see how your body is responding to therapy. Everybody is unique and responds to treatment differently, so it is important that this blood test is taken and reviewed at this stage.
We can help you arrange your blood tests through clinic, or your GP may agree to organising these for you. Once we have received your results, you will be asked to schedule a 15-minute Video Consultation with Dr Stevens to review your results, discuss how therapy is going and for any adjustments to be made to your starting protocol if necessary. Your next 3-6 month prescription/s will be authorised following this consultation.
Please allow up to 15 minutes for this appointment.
After your first follow up consultation you will be routinely reviewed every 6-12 months, along with up to date blood results, where Dr Stevens will review your current protocol and formulate an on-going action plan so that we can continue to safely and effectively prescribe your HRT.
These consultations are an ideal opportunity to discuss your personal well-being and any side effects that you may be experiencing. Dr Stevens will then correlate this information with your blood results to see where your hormone levels are now that you are stable. Your next prescription/s will also be authorised following this consultation.
You have the option of attending clinic for these appointments, where the necessary monitoring blood tests can be taken as part of your consultation and so no need to organise these in advance. Alternatively, if opting for a video consultation, we can help you arrange your blood tests remotely, or your GP may agree to organising these for you.
Once every 12 months, if returning to clinic for your annual face-to-face consultation, you will have another opportunity to use our InBody 770 body composition scanner so that we can continue to track and record data relating to your on-going physical health.
For all video consultations, you have the option of either a 15-minute (£80) or 30-minute (£160) consultation. If everything is going well with nothing to report, you are welcome to opt for a 15-minute appointment, otherwise please book a 30-minute appointment.
Please allow up to 30 minutes for all clinic appointments.
All patients (including international) must attend clinic for their first face-to-face follow up consultation, usually 12-15 months after commencing treatment.
After your first follow-up consultation in clinic, if you are a UK resident and stable on treatment you can be approved for remote consultations, and will no longer be required to attend clinic annually. Your treatment can then be managed remotely if preferred.
All international patients will still be required to attend clinic every 12 months to collect their medications.
IMPORTANT: If you are based in the UK and opt for your annual consultations to be carried out remotely, you will need to provide evidence of a recent blood pressure check prior to your appointment. This can be arranged through your GP or another private provider if required.
Please forward the above evidence by email PRIOR to your video consultation, as your next prescription/s will not be issued or dispensed until your notes have been updated with this information.
Occasionally, additional blood tests are required when protocol adjustments have been made outside of your routine reviews. We can help you arrange the necessary blood panel through clinic, or your GP may agree to organising this for you. If so, please ensure that they include all of the tests listed.
Once we have your results, Dr Stevens will review them and contact you by email with any further action.
You are always welcome to book a 15-minute Telephone Consultation with Dr Stevens between routine follow-ups if you wish to discuss your recent blood results or current treatment plan over the phone, rather than by email (there is a fee for this service).
Regular blood testing is a fundamental part of treatment at The Men’s Health Clinic. As each person is biochemically unique, it is only by regularly reviewing exactly how your body is responding to treatment that we can confidently continue to prescribe your medication and manage your treatment plan safely and effectively. The following blood tests are available in clinic, they can also be organised remotely.
This comprehensive female blood test encompasses all the blood investigations required to make an accurate assessment of your hormonal status. It also assesses other health parameters, including vitamin deficiencies, to give a more complete picture of your current state of health.
We will request that every new patient has this (or equivalent) blood test carried out prior to booking an HRT consultation with us, so that all health parameters can be reviewed and taken into consideration when deciding on your personalised treatment plan.
This test is also suitable when on HRT treatment, we recommend that it is carried out at least once every 12 months.
This blood test includes all the necessary blood investigations for routine monitoring whilst on Hormone Replacement Therapy, so that you and your doctor can be confident that your treatment is continuing to be prescribed safely and effectively.
For patients who cannot attend clinic or make their own arrangements for a blood draw, we are pleased to have access to a nationwide healthcare provider who can offer professional and convenient phlebotomy and blood sample collection, regardless of where you are located in the UK.
If you would like the peace of mind of having a fully qualified and insured nurse draw your venous blood sample at a location of your choice, we can organise this for you.
If you would like to make your own arrangements for a venous blood collection, we can send you a test kit containing the necessary equipment for your qualified medical professional to take your sample. Your test kit will be dispatched to you by 1st Class post, and includes a prepaid Tracked24 envelope for returning your sample to the lab.
We would be happy to recommend a nationwide network of clinics where you can take your test kit to have your blood taken if required.
If you would like to visit The Men’s Health Clinic for an initial diagnostic blood test, or a blood test outside of your routine follow up consultations, you have the option of booking in a 15-minute ‘Phlebotomy’ appointment where you can have your blood test in clinic.
Your blood test and appointment fee would be payable on the day of your appointment.
Our gold standard female Hormone Replacement Therapy is a combination of an injectable oestrogen (Oestradiol Valerate), plus an injectable testosterone (Testosterone Cypionate). The benefits of testosterone in Female HRT are discussed further in this article.
Both medications are administered alongside a body identical progesterone where necessary. All medications are safely prescribed with a protocol specifically designed and tailored to meet your individual needs.
Utilising injectable oestrogen and testosterone for use in female HRT is uncommon in the UK, however it is extremely common practice in the United States and Europe. It’s method of administration means that your dose can be carefully titrated and managed according to your body’s own requirements and natural response. This is scientifically measured via regular blood testing, with your blood parameters being thoroughly reviewed by your doctor who will use this information to make any necessary adjustments to your personal dosing regimen.
If you would prefer more traditional methods of HRT, including oestrogen patches and gel, these are available on a private prescription and can be discussed with our doctor during your consultation.
Please contact us if you would like a full breakdown of all HRT medication options offered by The Men’s Health Clinic.
At the end of your three month medication starter boxes, we will only continue to issue your prescription medication and prescription-only supplies from clinic. All of your ongoing injecting equipment can be purchased from specialist online medical supplies companies at your convenience. Links to our recommended products and supplies can be found below.
