Your TRT Journey

From Your Initial Contact With Us, And Then Throughout  Your Journey To Optimal Hormonal Health, We Will Guide And Support You Every Step Of The Way

We pride ourselves in offering a personalised service that caters to your individual needs.  We work with you to help you achieve hormonal balance and provide you with realistic expectations, so that you can feel like you again.

We appreciate that initial costs can seem high in comparison to other ‘providers’, however, we firmly believe that our high level of service is second to none and simply cannot be compared.  This is a lifelong partnership on a lifelong journey,  choosing who you work with on your road to optimal hormonal health can be one of the most important decisions that you will ever make.

When you first make contact with The Men’s Health Clinic, the path that you follow with us will typically start from one of three routes.  These are summarised below but further information can be found on the TRT Consultation page of our website.

For a detailed breakdown on medication costs, please see our How Much Does TRT Cost? page.

ROUTE 1

Completely New to TRT

If you believe that you may be suffering with symptoms and signs of low testosterone but have had no formal diagnosis, you would typically start by booking a 60-Minute New Patient Consultation with us.

At this consultation, Dr Stevens will take a detailed medical and social history from you, perform a physical examination, take comprehensive blood tests and have an in-depth discussion with you regarding Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome, Testosterone Replacement Therapy, your expectations and your suitability for therapy.

60-Minute New Patient TRT Consultation:  £280

+ Blood Test:  £144

Once your blood results have been received, we will contact you with further recommendations on how to proceed.  If your blood results have indicated that you are a candidate for Testosterone Replacement Therapy, we would advise that you return to clinic for a 30-minute Follow Up TRT Consultation.  This can usually be done within one week of your first consultation.

At this follow up consultation, Dr Stevens will fully review your blood results with you and discuss your treatment options.  You will then sign your consent form and commence treatment as appropriate.

Where appropriate, Dr Stevens will go through safe preparation of your medications with you, and if you will be self-injecting, he will gently guide you through safe and correct injection technique so that you leave the consultation room with confidence, ready to embark on your journey.

Dr Stevens would be happy to support you in approaching your GP to have your blood investigations and medications supplied under the NHS.  A letter can be supplied at the end of your consultation if required.

30-Minute Follow Up TRT Consultation:  £160 + Medication

ROUTE 2

Confirmed Low Testosterone But Not on TRT

This route is for anyone who has been concerned about their hormone levels and has already taken the proactive step of having blood tests taken in order to obtain a confirmed diagnosis of Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome.

You may also choose to take this route if you are completely new to the idea of TRT, but live a long distance from clinic and would like to have your blood results to hand so that you can start treatment at your first consultation, rather than having to wait and return to clinic one week later.

If this is the case, your first step would be to email us with a copy of your blood results and a brief history.  Dr Stevens will take a look and confirm that there are no obvious reversible causes for your low testosterone levels and that you are potentially a candidate for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).  Your blood tests would need to have been taken within the last three months and include all of the tests listed in the TRT Check Plus test from Medichecks.

As soon as Dr Stevens confirms that he is happy to see you in clinic, you would need to book a 90-Minute New Patient Consultation.  At this consultation, Dr Stevens will take a detailed medical and social history from you, thoroughly review your blood results, perform a physical examination and have a in-depth discussion with you about Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome, Testosterone Replacement Therapy and your expectations.  You will have a discussion about your treatment options with us, sign your consent forms and commence treatment as appropriate.

90-Minute New Patient TRT Consultation:  £420 + Medication

ROUTE 3

Transferring from the NHS / Another Provider

If you are already on Testosterone Replacement Therapy and are wishing to transfer your care from either the NHS or another private TRT provider, you would simply need to book in a 90-Minute New Patient Consultation and Dr Stevens will switch you over to our care and commence treatment at your first consultation.

You would need to have blood test results from within the last three months which include all of the tests listed in the TRT Check Plus test from Medichecks.  If you are already on injections, these tests will need to be taken in a trough, (ideally on the day of your injection, but preceding it).  Please bring hard copies of these results along with you to your consultation.

There is no need to stop the treatment you are on prior to seeing us.  If you are on Sustanon, we just ask that you omit your last dose immediately prior to attending your consultation, so that you are due your next injection.  If you are on Nebido (Testosterone Undeconate), time your consultation for when your next injection is due.  If you are on a testosterone cream or gel, simply do not apply the topical treatment on the day of your consultation.

At this consultation, Dr Stevens will take a detailed medical and social history from you, thoroughly review your blood results, perform a physical examination and have a in-depth discussion with you about Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome, Testosterone Replacement Therapy and your expectations.  You will have a discussion about your your treatment options, sign your consent forms and commence treatment as appropriate.

Where appropriate, Dr Stevens will go through safe preparation of your medications with you, and if you are self-injecting, he will review your injection technique to ensure that you are safely and correctly administering your medication/s.

Dr Stevens would be happy to support you in approaching your GP to have your blood investigations and medications supplied under the NHS.  A letter can be supplied at the end of your consultation if required.

The Rest of Your Journey With Us…

After commencing treatment with us, you will have regular blood tests and follow up reviews with Dr Stevens to ensure the continued safe and effective prescribing of your Testosterone Replacement Therapy.  The timeline for these routine reviews is as follows:

Week 4-5

Four weeks after commencing treatment, you will need to have your bloods drawn so that we can see how your body is responding to therapy.  This test must be done in a trough (on the day of your injection, but preceding it).  This test allows Dr Stevens to see how your body is responding to therapy and allows for a potential alteration to your starting protocol prior to you achieving hormonal stability.  Everybody is unique and responds to treatment differently, so it is imperative that this blood test is taken at this stage in your journey so that your protocol can be adjusted as necessary.

We recommend the TRT Monitoring with Free Testosterone blood test from Medichecks (link and discount code can be found on our Online Blood Tests page), however your GP may agree to ordering these tests for you.  If this is the case, please ensure that they include all of the tests listed in the Medichecks package.  If you would prefer, you can book a 15-minute clinical appointment (in addition to the telephone consultation described below) and have your blood test taken in clinic.  You will be emailed your results in 2-3 days.

When you have your results, you will have a 15-minute telephone consultation with Dr Stevens to discuss how you are feeling and your corresponding blood results.  Please ensure that you have emailed your blood results over to us so that Dr Stevens has them to hand ready for this call.

Telephone consultations are usually booked in clinic at the end of your New Patient consultation.  Alternatively, you can book yourself in online or call us on 01202 091593.  Payment is taken at the time of booking.

15-Minute Telephone Consultation:  £50 (+ Blood Tests)

Week 10-11

Ten weeks after commencing treatment, you will need to have your bloods drawn again so that we can see where your levels are now that you are stable.  You will then be formally reviewed by Dr Stevens with a 30-minute Follow Up TRT Consultation.  This consultation will include a discussion about well-being, any side effects and issuing of your standard six month medications/prescriptions.

For this follow up, you have the option of coming into clinic and having your bloods drawn as part of the consultation or, if more convenient, you may have this consultation conducted via Video Call/Skype.

If you choose the Video consultation option, you would need to have arranged a TRT Check blood test through Medichecks (link and discount code can be found on our Online Blood Tests page), or request that your GP orders your bloods.  You would then just email your results over to us prior to your consultation.

All consultations can be booked in clinic, online, or by calling us on 01202 091593.  If you are booking a Video consultation over the phone, please advise us of this so that payment can be taken at the time of booking.

30-Minute Follow Up TRT Consultation:  £160 (+ Bloods Tests)

6 Monthly Reviews

After your ten week blood test and consultation, you will have a formal TRT follow up just once every six months.  At this consultation, Dr Stevens will review your current protocol, discuss any health concerns that you might have and formulate an action plan so that your ongoing expectations are both realistic and achievable.  At the end of the consultation you will be issued with your standard six month medications/prescriptions.

Again, this consultation can be carried out in clinic or by Video Call/Skype.  However, please bear in mind that you MUST have a face to face consultation with Dr Stevens at least once every 12 months, so that a physical examination can be carried out as appropriate.  This ensures safe and effective practice.

If you come into clinic for this follow up, you can have your bloods taken as part of the consultation.  If you choose the Video consultation option, you would need to have already organised a TRT Check or TRT Check Plus blood test from Medichecks (link and discount code can be found on our Online Blood Tests page), or request that your GP orders your bloods.  You would then just email your results over to us prior to your consultation.

All consultations can be booked in clinic, online or by calling us on 01202 091593. Please advise if you are booking a Video consultation over the phone so that payment can be taken at the time of booking.

30-Minute Follow Up TRT Consultation:  £160 (+ Blood Tests)

Interim Protocol Changes

Occasionally, additional blood tests are required when protocol adjustments have been made outside of your routine reviews.

Dr Stevens will advise you on the most suitable test to purchase from Medichecks, or to request from your GP.  The various options can be found on our Online Blood Tests page.  Alternatively, these blood tests can be taken in clinic, you would simply need to book in a 15-minute ‘Clinical’ appointment online or by calling us on 01202 091593.  You will be emailed your results within 2-3 days.

Once you have your results, email them over to us and Dr Stevens will review them and advise accordingly.  If you would prefer to have a discussion with Dr Stevens regarding your results over the phone, please book in a 15-minute Telephone Consultation with him online or by calling us on the above number.  Payment is taken for all telephone consultations at the time of booking.
