Entrust Your Future Health To Us
I grew up locally in Dorset and as a child always had a keen interest in science and nature. I come from a family of healthcare professionals, so I seemed destined to follow their footsteps.
I studied Pharmacy at Cardiff University and graduated with a MPharm degree in 2005. A pre-registration training year working in a hospital followed and after passing my final exams, I was finally a qualified pharmacist. I then worked as a pharmacist at Southampton Hospital for a couple of years, completing rotational posts in areas such as oncology, cardiac disease and elderly care.
I then decided to change sectors and move into community pharmacy, where I have remained ever since. I have successfully managed a few pharmacies across different companies and have sat on the Dorset Local Pharmaceutical Committee since my election in 2018. I carry out numerous NHS services as a community pharmacist including medication use reviews, treating minor ailments, counselling patients on medicines and running a stop smoking service, alongside many others. I enjoy the daily personal interaction with patients and following their journeys as I get to know them. I have a passion for high quality vitamins and supplements, alongside good nutrition, to help people become the healthiest versions of themselves. I also have a keen interest in vitamin deficiencies caused by prescription medication and incorporate this into my everyday practice and advice. I always look at how vitamin supplements can interact with prescription medication to ensure patient safety at all times.
Away from work, I have travelled extensively and have visited some amazing countries. I have been obsessed with sport since a young age and am a keen AFC Bournemouth fan, attending matches when I can.
In 2017, I suffered from a serious adverse reaction to an antibiotic called ciprofloxacin. This left me with devastating damage to my tendons and nervous system. I have spent the last few years using my science background to read and learn just about everything I can about vitamins, deficiencies and nutrition in order to try and aid my recovery. Luckily biochemistry was always my favourite subject at university, so I enjoy reading scientific research papers on a daily basis. My biggest recovery breakthrough came when I had the Spectracell Micronutrient Test at The Men’s Health Clinic, the only place in the UK offering this ground-breaking test. Spectracell isolate your white blood cells to test for over 30 different vitamins and nutrients inside your cells. Quite simply, the results have changed my life. By correcting my deficiencies with the most effective supplements, my recovery really took off and leads me to where I am today.
I now want to use my own experiences and vast acquired knowledge of deficiencies, supplements and nutrition to help others regain their health, whatever their issues may be. The vitamin and supplement market can be overwhelming, with the quality of brands and ingredients very variable. I would like to simplify this for people by recommending the best and most effective forms of supplements that are tailored to their respective needs. These needs are very individual, based on factors such as symptoms, nutrient deficiency test results and existing prescription medication regimes. Through my own personal journey, I have realised that we all have some responsibility for our own health by eating healthily, sleeping well, staying hydrated, exercising and supplementing with quality vitamins. I would now love to help other people on their journeys to better health.
I believe that the body has an amazing ability to fix and heal itself, we just need to give it the tools and nutrients to do so.
