The Importance of Knowing Where You Have Been, Where You Are and Where You Are Going…

Is the ‘manopause’ more widespread than we thought?

We know that testosterone levels decline with age, we also know that low testosterone has serious consequences on both psychological and physical health; however testosterone levels are not routinely requested as part of a men’s health screen.

I have my suspicions as to why that is and unfortunately I think it comes down to cost. It is far easier to demonstrate a reduction in cholesterol with a liver toxic statin than it is to normalise testosterone levels with bioidentical hormones. The NHS is very short sighted in its approach to health care, it is target led, hence it needs to show dramatic changes in the shortest amount of time to justify its future budget. The NHS is under resourced and overstretched, it is crumbling under pressure from the government who make false promises and unrealistic demands. The plan is privatisation, it’s no secret, it’s just a matter of time.

You need to take responsibility for your own health, you need autonomy in the decisions you make, you need to take back control!
